Family support helped Ali through university

Ali Archibald is 21 years old and was born and raised in Guyra, NSW, and has recently graduated with a Bachelor of Business from UNE.

After graduating high school in 2016 Ali went straight into studying a Bachelor of Business degree, majoring in finance at UNE. Ali is lucky to have two older brothers who also completed a Bachelor of Business at UNE and they have guided her throughout her studies and in life after university.

According to Ali, it was family support that helped her through university. ‘The support I received from my whole family and friends throughout my studies especially around exam time was definitely how I managed to complete my degree. My mother and best friend would wake up extra early, the morning of my exams, to quiz me and offer their support, which made taking the exam that much easier.’

During Ali’s time at UNE she was the student representative and spoke at the 2018 NAIDOC opening and flag-raising at the UNE Armidale campus. Along with this and other opportunities, she was lucky enough to participate in the Sydney School of Entrepreneurship in its first year of accreditation and went on to help her older brother, Miles, in founding The UNE Venture Society as a result of those studies.

Ali completed two internships at Macquarie Group in Sydney and upon graduation was offered a Graduate position with them for 2020.

‘Graduating university to me is one major milestone in accomplishing all my aspirations for life.’
